The best coffee milkshake with a secret ingredient that sends it over the edge!
Did you know that July 26th is National Coffee Milkshake Day?! Honestly though, no matter what day it is, I’m ready: coffee milkshake, here I come!
I happen to have some leftover homemade coffee ice cream in the freezer already, so this milkshake recipe felt like a no brainer.
Click through if you want the simple recipe for the best homemade coffee milkshake I’ve ever had. For real. It’s that good. There’s one secret ingredient that I’m convinced helps it to stand out from the rest. Curious to know what it is?
Best Coffee Milkshake Recipe
Ingredients You’ll Need
(makes 1 serving)
- 4 large scoops of coffee ice cream (homemade or store bought)
- 1/3 cup of milk
- 1 milk (or dark) chocolate bar*
*It doesn’t matter if its milk chocolate or dark chocolate. Just grab your absolute favorite one. I like milk chocolate, so I used that. But sooo many people prefer dark chocolate and that works great too. The chocolate brings out the yum in the coffee imo and takes it to a whole new level.
How to Make the Best Coffee Milkshake
Add coffee ice cream and milk into a blender.
Then, using a vegetable peeler, grater, or a knife shave the long side of a chocolate bar into the blender.
I used about 1/4 of a cup of chocolate shavings for mine, but you can use as much or as little as you’d like. I promise, this will take your coffee milkshake from good to great.
Blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute (depending on your blender). Pour into gladdest and enjoy.
Topping Ideas for The Best Coffee Milkshake
You can add lots of fun topping to this coffee milkshake if you want to kick it up a notch. I wouldn’t say it’s necessary, but I also love toppings. So, I figured I’d include a few ideas just in case.
Whipped cream (I like the homemade version from my dessert pizza recipe best), a little biscotti, chocolate covered coffee beans, and/or extra chocolate shavings are all fair game in my book.
A homemade cookie would go really well with this coffee milkshake too…maybe the easy peanut butter cookies from my pbj s’more cookie sandwich recipe?
And if you really want to go crazy with the coffee flavor, you could even more a little espresso shot on top. Again, totally not necessary, but this could be a nice jolt is you need a mid-day (or even mid-morning) pick me up.
