Lately I’ve been trying to figure out where my light fetish comes from. This morning I came downstairs in the 6:30 a.m. semi-dark and flicked on the kitchen light – squinted – then immediately dimmed it as much as possible while still allowing me to make my way to the tea kettle.
Then I realized, this is what I do every time I walk into a room. Dim the lights. I can’t stand bright lights. I like soft light. Mood lights. Gentle lights. My eyes just can’t take the harsh glow of an exposed bulb. So perhaps that’s why I’m so enamored with unique decorative lamps, like these from Shine Labs. I’m not interested in blinding flourescent functionality – I want a soft, pretty glow to illuminate my way.
I saw the Curve pendant on jen elisebeth’s blog – strips of felt curving along a silk shade “creating a glare free textured illumination.” Perfect. The Cascade pendant, dripping with organza petals, seems perfect for the more dramatic decorator, and the Bloom pendant for a more refined and artistic, romantic beauty.
Have a lovely weekend,
