Interior Obsessions: Love of Orange

A recent advertisement for Netflix’s ‘Orange is the New Black’ got me thinking about how much I truly love the color orange. I know it’s one of those hit or miss colors for most people; there is rarely ambivalence where orange is concerned. But from bright citrus to deep pumpkin, it’s a color that always draws me in.

Orange can be cheery, a pop of color against a neutral background of white or black. Or it can create a darker old-world library-like space when paired with woods and deep brown. I used to have orange in the living room of my previous house, and I find I am missing it terribly. Perhaps I can add an orange rug to my family room, or replace an aging leather bench with an orange substitute, just to give that little extra oomph.

Where do you have orange in your home?

Any information on the b&w prints on the wall?

My parents had a very mod home in the 70’s. Orange featured from the orange tiled BBQ on the back patio to the orange tiled splash back in the kitchen and how could I forget that orange pull down light fitting over the dinner table! Lol. Oh yeah, all this with the green checkered wallpaper! I don’t think I could do either green or orange, I thinkmive had my fill.

Don’t know if I’d be brave enough for a big splash of orange, but I’d love a bright orange print on a clean white space.
I’ve just posted about wearing orange, because it is a colour that’s overlooked, but so punchy and unexpected! x

Nice Jamie! I love orange as well (in small doses though – more of an accent color).

I love orange. We actually have a lot of orange around our house, especially since it is one of the main colors in my husbands business logo. I wear orange dresses, I’m planning on using orange in my soma’s school loft. Glad to see that the rest of the world is catching on.
