Room by Room – Bertoia Diamond Chair

As the summer continues to heat up, Room by Room with FormFire Glassworks heads outdoors with a great example of iconic modern patio-worthy furniture, the Bertoia Diamond Chair.

Harry Bertoia created this line of bent wire chairs in 1952 for Knoll. Although the grid has a light look, it is a sturdy and comfortable chair available with a basic seat cushion or fully covered. With chrome wires or powder-coated steel and a vinyl cushion, this is a great option for outdoor seating and indoor conversation areas alike. The airy mesh keeps your seating area from looking too heavy, and fits perfectly into the greenery of an intimate patio.

Continuing the outdoor theme, a minimalist glass birdfeeder hangs from a tree or patio cover. A set of adjustable candle sconces grace the garden wall, which also houses a powder-coated sculptural piece of art. A set of three planters sets atop your table with succulents of small herbs. Lets not forget your furry family members who can enjoy a drink of water from a simple modern raised bowl.

Next week I will choose a new iconic piece and give you my picks for accessorizing your modern home.

Comfort is a key issue for the election of replacement patio cushion designs. A key factor for customers to consider is the style of outdoor furniture you have. It is not prudent to put a damper of an inch thick or a patio dining set that can be strips of metal or wood to sit. The thicker the pad, the less of a chance that you have to feel really splints or braces to sit on the furniture.

FormFire Glassworks : Modern Icons - the Bertoia Diamond Chair

Great collection! I recently got myself a Bertoia Chair from this great new collection I found online. Its a knock off but at this price it was a steal and the quality turned out to be great too-
I’d like to get that piece of art you have there as well 🙂

Shameless plug…but I have to mention that one of our sponsors, nest-living, has the Bertoia chairs available online:

I have a really strange obsession with chairs, so of course, this is on my list- for one day!

I would not have thought to use CB2’s whirly hanging candleholder ( as a birdfeeder as etsy user LBrandt has done… Thanks for the inspiration!
