This week, Room by Room with FormFire Glassworks takes a look at another current piece reminiscent of modern styling, the LAX Free-Standing Shelf by Mash Studios.
The LAX shelving unit is a timeless mixture of hard-edged metal and warm walnut that enhances any space. With no visible hardware, the piece has clean, simple lines that offer a perfect backdrop to art and books. The white powder-coated aluminum doors slide in grooves along the wood frame to allow access to the almost six feet of cabinet length. Simple base construction keeps the unit looking solid, yet it floats above the floor visually. Mash Studios has created a full line of LAX furniture, from tables to chairs to a platform bed. They are worth checking out, as their price point is fairly reasonable.
Clean lines and visual textures are the order of the day for my handmade picks. A recycled glass jug makes a clear shade for a pendant light, while intricate city map cutwork adorns the wall in a monochromatic way. A silkscreened silicone placemat adds a subtle design to a plain tabletop, and a canvas pillow cover adds a sweet touch with a giraffe print. Hanging ceramic pods give a smooth texture and hold suspended air plants for all to enjoy.
Next week I will choose a new iconic piece and give you my picks for accessorizing your modern home.
