Room by Room – Modern Pet Accessories

After spending many weeks traveling through each space of the house, this week’s installment of Room by Room with FormFire Glassworks focuses on a set of items that often enter the home surreptitiously, Modern Pet Accessories.

After bringing home a new furry friend, it is a typical thing to stop by the large-scale pet store to stock up on items for your new family member. Generally, these pieces are created with practicality in mind, but often not with an eye for style. Much as children’s toys can take over the living space of a home, so too do the beds, crates, dishes and toys that we use for our pets. But there is no reason that many of these everyday items can’t be attractive as well, and fit seamlessly into the modern home.

Your cat takes a leisurely stroll through the rooms of your home, as she often does. Stopping in the family room, she pauses to jump atop the simple platforms of the cat tower, allowing herself a quick look out into the backyard to check for birds. She roams into the living room, where scratching frames have been placed at a convenient height so that she can stretch her claws and save your favorite danish modern coffee table. She moves quietly to your office for a quick nap on the wall-mounted curved cat bed, passing the dog along the way. The dog heads to the kitchen for a quick drink from his dish. He heads into the family room and takes a seat on the tweed-covered pet bed. After a short rest, he heads up to the bedroom, where a modern crate awaits him, his own den. (Although his owner is thinking of possibly changing it out to hold the cat box, but don’t tell!)
