Okay, so this may seem a little random. And, in a way, it kind of is. But, random or not, I’m moving. At the end of this month.
To…Atlanta!
We move in less than two weeksย and I couldn’t be more excited for a new city to explore.
For anyone that’s been following along, Jeff and I moved back to Jax two years ago, after spending a year in Seattle. And while we love the place where we bought our first home, all those years ago, it’s time to move on and explore some other options. So, Atlanta, here we come!
I think ATL is going to be a great place for us to be. And while I’m slightly nervous about moving to a new city, I’m pretty confident that it will be a good match career-wise as well… I alreadyย have my first ATL event lined up, so it looks like I’ll be hitting the ground running when I get there. Sharing all the details on that event later this week, for anyone who is interested.
For now, though, I’m just excited to be able to share this little bit of news that I’ve been keeping quiet about for the last couple of weeks. By the way, I’m kind of high-fiving myself (in my head) for not accidentally sharing the news before now. Honestly, it’s been hard to keep tight lipped, but I wanted to be 100% certain, no turning back, that we were FOR SURE moving before I said anything.
So, yeah. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I would love your help with something, if you happen to have a minute or two…I’ve visited Atlanta a handful of times in the past, but I’m still not all that familiar with the different neighborhoods, restaurants, shopping, etc. So, if you have any suggestions for me – cool shops, interesting things to do, the best place to get an ice cream cone, etc – I’d love for you to share.
And if you live in Atlanta, it’d be great to meet up. Bonus points if you are a photographer who likes working with bloggers…I’m looking for a local photographer that would be interested in working with me on some upcoming projects (paid, of course) and beyond.

Hi Brittni! I am just reading this post now as I am a new follower. I moved to Atlanta about a year and a half ago to continue my work on a film franchise I had started on in Los Angeles. Two more films later and I am still here. It is a great place! I am also a photographer and have assisted designers and bloggers in Los Angeles. While working on film in the art department, my DIY and other creative pursuits took a backseat and I am now aiming to get back into it. Would you be up for meeting for a quick coffee sometime? On me of course! I hope you are enjoying your new city! Thank you for your fantastic blog and constant inspiration. Best, Lauri

Also, the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market is a super fun experience! They have all sorts of treats from all over the globe. I definitely recommend setting aside a few hours on a weekend to check it out!

The is also a really awesome store called The Merchant at Howell Mill in that area. Its definitely my favorite place to shop! I would recommend checking out http://www.coolatlantablog.com/ the author moved to ATL from Cali and she shares a ton of great finds around the city.
JasmineOmigod, how exciting! My husband and I recently left Seattle after almost a decade and are now living in Athens, about an hour and a half outside of Atlanta. We’ve only been into Atlanta a couple times to see some bands but I can’t wait to see all the cool spots you discover there. ๐
StephSo fun! I’m from ATL originally and I totally agree West Egg and Highland Bakery. There’s also a great amazing new store called Henry & June รขโฌโรย I haven’t been (I’m in London now) but I’m pretty sure it’s in Virginia Highlands. You’re going to love Atlanta! Get ready for traffic and heat but otherwise, it’s great.

BrittniCongrats Brittni! I’ve been living in Atlanta for a little over a year now and absolutely love it. Plenty of suggestions to help you get to know the city better: Young Blood Boutique (dreamiest store ever), Victory Sandwich Bar, Crafted Westside (right by more work and features some insanely talented local makers), Octane, Jeni’s Ice Cream, so many other awesome places! Feel free to get in touch, there’s a FB group that I think you’ll be interested in joining, especially for networking and collaborating.

lesYum! Sounds delicious. I’ll definitely be checking it out, Christina. Thanks so much for the suggestion!
BrittniForgot to mention, in all my King of Pops excitement, that their flavors are killer. Chocolate Sea Salt is my favorite, but they’ve had Earl Gray before, and now have some fun flavors like blackberry ginger lemonade ….and even Arnold Palmer, ha!
ChristinaSo excited for your new adventure!!! Also, those popsicles Christina mentioned above sound like they need to make it to the top of your priority list.
Kelly @ Studio DIYSo glad to hear that, Alex. Excited to be moving in less than two weeks.
BrittniAtlanta is a wonderful city to move to! I moved here from Chicago about a year and a half ago for grad school and I love it. Always something to new to explore and events to attend. I have a degree in photography and this city really does give me the chance to let my creative energy flow when I need a break from the law school life.
Hope you love it here! ๐
AlexAdventure awaits! Lucky girl ๐
JanaOh gosh, there’s SO MUCH to do here in Atlanta. Still trying to find the perfect ice cream, but the PERFECT popsicles are from King of Pops. You can find them at any farmers market in the city and in some local restaurants and coffee shops.
Make sure you explore the Beltline! And look into Indie Craft Experience if you haven’t heard of it already! http://www.ice-atlanta.com
Do you know what neighborhood you’ll be moving to? Some great little pockets are East Atlanta Village (I’m biased – that’s my neck of the woods – be sure to check out Joe’s East Atlanta Coffee Shop and Holy Taco!), Grant Park, and Little Five Points.
We also find ourselves in Oakhurst and Ormewood Park a lot. ๐
P.S. I’m an Atlanta photographer who focuses on offering photography for creatives (that includes bloggers!) I’d love to grab a cup of coffee when you make the move and chat about the city, blogging, and maybe a little collaborating…? Good luck with everything!
ChristinaThat is so exciting! I live a little north of Atlanta, although I’ve lived here my entire life, I’m not super familiar with the city itself. Can’t wait to hear more about your new adventure!
