Surprise! I’m Moving To…

Okay, so this may seem a little random. And, in a way, it kind of is. But, random or not, I’m moving. At the end of this month.

We move in less than two weeks and I couldn’t be more excited for a new city to explore.

For anyone that’s been following along, Jeff and I moved back to Jax two years ago, after spending a year in Seattle. And while we love the place where we bought our first home, all those years ago, it’s time to move on and explore some other options. So, Atlanta, here we come!

I think ATL is going to be a great place for us to be. And while I’m slightly nervous about moving to a new city, I’m pretty confident that it will be a good match career-wise as well… I already have my first ATL event lined up, so it looks like I’ll be hitting the ground running when I get there. Sharing all the details on that event later this week, for anyone who is interested.

For now, though, I’m just excited to be able to share this little bit of news that I’ve been keeping quiet about for the last couple of weeks. By the way, I’m kind of high-fiving myself (in my head) for not accidentally sharing the news before now. Honestly, it’s been hard to keep tight lipped, but I wanted to be 100% certain, no turning back, that we were FOR SURE moving before I said anything.

So, yeah. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I would love your help with something, if you happen to have a minute or two…I’ve visited Atlanta a handful of times in the past, but I’m still not all that familiar with the different neighborhoods, restaurants, shopping, etc. So, if you have any suggestions for me – cool shops, interesting things to do, the best place to get an ice cream cone, etc – I’d love for you to share.

And if you live in Atlanta, it’d be great to meet up. Bonus points if you are a photographer who likes working with bloggers…I’m looking for a local photographer that would be interested in working with me on some upcoming projects (paid, of course) and beyond.

Hi Lauri. Thanks for reaching out. Feel free to shoot me an email at brittni(at) and we can chat. 🙂

Hi Brittni! I am just reading this post now as I am a new follower. I moved to Atlanta about a year and a half ago to continue my work on a film franchise I had started on in Los Angeles. Two more films later and I am still here. It is a great place! I am also a photographer and have assisted designers and bloggers in Los Angeles. While working on film in the art department, my DIY and other creative pursuits took a backseat and I am now aiming to get back into it. Would you be up for meeting for a quick coffee sometime? On me of course! I hope you are enjoying your new city! Thank you for your fantastic blog and constant inspiration. Best, Lauri

oh wow Britt! Just catching up now. Congrats! This is awesome news! I hope something brings be out there to visit! Good luck with the move!!!!

Flip Burger Boutique is an awesome burger experience! Richard Blais’s original Flip is in west midtown, which is my favorite, but there’s also one in Buckhead. Also, the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market is a super fun experience! They have all sorts of treats from all over the globe. I definitely recommend setting aside a few hours on a weekend to check it out!

Holiday Workshop: Make Geometric Wood Wreaths with Me at West Elm in Atlanta | Paper and Stitch

Oh, and look into Ponce City Market. It’s going to be amazing!!!

I just moved downtown in July for my job. I love it so far! West Midtown is my favorite area. I love Octane Coffee, Bar Taco, West Egg Cafe, and Star Provisions. The is also a really awesome store called The Merchant at Howell Mill in that area. Its definitely my favorite place to shop! I would recommend checking out the author moved to ATL from Cali and she shares a ton of great finds around the city.

Omigod, how exciting! My husband and I recently left Seattle after almost a decade and are now living in Athens, about an hour and a half outside of Atlanta. We’ve only been into Atlanta a couple times to see some bands but I can’t wait to see all the cool spots you discover there. 🙂

So fun! I’m from ATL originally and I totally agree West Egg and Highland Bakery. There’s also a great amazing new store called Henry & June – I haven’t been (I’m in London now) but I’m pretty sure it’s in Virginia Highlands. You’re going to love Atlanta! Get ready for traffic and heat but otherwise, it’s great.
