GIVE ME AN EARFUL: HOW TO MAKE CLAY EARRINGS + DIY CLAY JEWELRY TECHNIQUES THAT WILL TURN HEADS

If you’ve ever wanted to make your own polymer clay earrings (or any clay jewelry, for that matter), this project is for you.

– polymer clay – rolling pin – clay cutter – jewelry pliers – earring posts and backs – jewelry jump rings

Supplies to Make a  Clay Earrings

Select 1-3 secondary colors and roll them into small balls. Gently wrap each color around the base color and roll together with your hands.

Marbling Technique

Stretch and fold the twisted, rolled out piece of clay several times until the colors start to blend. Continue stretching, rolling, and folding until it looks like a smooth marbling effect.

Use the same technique as you would for marbling, but this time, continue pushing the colors through one another until all the colors are blending with no striations.

Creating Custom Colors

Take two separate colors of your choice. Roll each out into short, thick cylinders. Lay them side by side and gently push them together until they cling to each other.

Color Blocking Technique

Start by preheating your oven to 225° and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. Create your clay shapes using one of the techniques.
