It’s finally beginning to look and feel like spring here in North Dakota (who knew we had seasons without snow all the way up here!) and I thought I’d celebrate by introducing you to one of my favorite botanical illustrators: Jennifer Judd-McGee of Swallowfield.
According to her blog, she lives in Portland, Maine. I always hear about how beautiful Maine is during anytime of the year, so I can imagine how much inspiration she has around her constantly!
She uses paper collage techniques as well as pen and ink (and many other materials!) to create her gorgeous illustrations, and she sometimes (ok, most of the time) makes me wish that Etsy had a wedding registry because her entire shop would be on mine!
Another thing about her illustration that gets to me is the use of book pages. As a college grad with an English degree, I’m (naturally) drawn to books in any form. Whether it be for the literature contained between the covers, or simply the pages used as artist’s canvas, you pretty much can’t go wrong in my book.
What great pieces to bring life to your…life?
I’d easily hang one in every room!
Check out Jennifer Judd-McGee’s Etsy shop and her blog to learn more.
See you all next week!
