When I was trying to come up with a unique Easter egg DIY that hadn’t already been done into oblivion, one thing that came to mind was an Easter egg version of my balloon-dipped pumpkins project.

They were super quick and easy with the pumpkins and completely mess-free, so I tried it out on a wooden set of eggs and it worked like a charm. Click through for an Easter egg balloon dipped DIY!

Materials

  • 9 inch balloons (mine are from Amazon)
  • scissors
  • Easter eggs (I used wooden ones from Amazon)

How to Make Balloon Dipped Easter Eggs

The instructions for these are just like the balloon dipped pumpkins, with one exception. I tried a second way to use the balloons, to create more of a striped effect. I’ll explain both…

Balloon Dipped Easter Egg DIY

For the large color blocked section eggs, cut the stem off a balloon, so you’re just left with the larger bulb shape, like the photo. Then, pull the balloon over the bottom of the egg. Adjust the balloon to get the desired look. And if there’s too much color, remove the balloon, cut a little bit more off of the top and pull it over the egg again.

For a striped color blocked look, take the end of the balloon that you discarded in the first type of balloon dipping, cut that down even further (like the photo) and then wrap that over the middle of the egg. That’s it! Super simple.

For something even more special, add a few fresh flowers with a short stem tucked underneath the balloon layer for a festive floral egg with an extra pop of color.

My mom would disagree but the mess was my favorite part! This is a great idea though. And your wooden eggs are great for year after year decor!

Haha. Well, that’s true – the mess is probably the best part. BUT it’s nice to have an alternative to the mess, just in case you don’t feeling like cleaning up afterwards (or getting dye all over your fingers). 🙂
