We’re getting dangerously close to February, which means Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. AND that also means that Galentine’s Day is almost here too!
I’ve never thrown a G Day party before, but have always wanted to because my friends are kind of awesome…So to celebrate those friends this year, I put together a Galentine’s Day party shoot. The whole shindig is in partnership with Seven Daughters wine and is complete with easy DIY ideas for throwing a party of your own.
Bonus! There’s a giveaway at the bottom of today’s post, where you can score a $50 gift card to purchase wine for your own Galentine’s Day celebration.
This Galentine’s party has no shortage of drinks. So let’s start with a super easy cocktail recipe…
Fruity Sangria Blanca Cocktail
Make a sweet and fruity sangria blanca with Seven Daughter’s Moscato and fresh fruit, like white peaches and starfruit. Just slice up your fruit and add it to a pitcher, then pour in the wine and let it the flavors meld together overnight, before serving.
If you don’t have time to wait, you can always just add sliced fruit to a glass of wine, for decoration. Still tastes great and looks special for guests.
And once you’ve made the sangria, it’s time for a little floral embellishment…
DIY Floral Drink Stirrers
To make your own, you’ll need delphinium flowers, a glue gun, drink stirrer sticks, and a pair of scissors.
1. Start by cutting several blooms off of one long stem of delphinium. Leave roughly 2 inches of the stem on each flower, so you can wrap it around the drink stirrer later.
Note: If you’re not working with delphinium, you may not be able to wrap the stem around because it will be too rigid. So, you’ll want to cut the stem off completely in that case and skip step 4.
2. Next, add a bead of glue to the top of the drink stirrer.
3. Attach the base of one bloom, one at a a time, to the bead of glue.
4. Then, wrap the stem around the drink stirrer and attach with more glue.
5. Repeat this process with 1-2 more flowers, depending on how large you want each drink stirrer to be. Just be sure to keep the flowers toward the top of the drink stirrer, away from your drink.
6. Be sure to remove any hot glue strings, if applicable.
7. Place in a glass of wine and you’re good to go.
Then move on to table decor…
DIY Tablescape Decor
Bring together a centerpiece in a pinch, with some vases of varying heights, a few bowls, and a big bouquet from the local flower market. Split the bouquet amongst the vases you have on hand and leave a few small dishes empty for filling with snacks, around the center of the table.
Add interest with a patterned tablecloth and colorful table top objects. DIY Idea: I bought some colorful notepads from the Dollar Store and used them as place settings, by adding each guests name to the bottom. Bonus! The notebooks double as a party favor for guests to take home. Add a piece of fruit on top, to keep the paper from the notepads from flipping up in the wind, if you’re throwing an outdoor bash.
As a finishing touch, I added a clay beaded garland to the table, as decoration. You could also hang a garland above the table to save space,
Fun and Games
Create a ‘Love Notes’ station for guests to write down all of the things they love about the people in attendance. It is Galentine’s Day after all. Fold ’em up and put them in a container, to be read later. And remind all of your friends how much they are loved.
And a few more photos from the shoot, to get you inspired…

Colleen BoudreauI love to pair all sorrs of appetizers and desserts – baked brie, fruit, olives, crostini, roasted nuts, pavlova, brownies, tarts…just about anything really 🙂
KristenI’ll pair wine with just about anything! But I love the feeling of a light+bright galentine’s party in this post. All of the fruit! I’m thinking a glazed pear tart, lemon bars, even a salad with strawberries and walnuts if more of a meal is the plan. Oh! Balsalmic strawberry-topped cupcakes… The sangria would go amazing with all of them– though a lighter red wouldn’t be amiss, either!
