Peanut Butter and Jelly (Donut) Sandwiches

Peanut Butter and Jelly Donut Sandwiches

Last week, I posted this Insta photo about a project that I photographed back in January for National Peanut Butter Day (which was Jan 24th).

I never hit publish on it for the blog because I wasn’t super happy with how it turned out. BUT there were so many comments on IG, from people saying they wanted to make their own, I figured I’d post the rest of the photos here. Just in case you are as crazy about donut sandwiches as I seem to be.

So…It’s peanut butter, jelly time. Make these peanut butter and jelly donut sandwiches with any kind of donut and your favorite pb and j combo. They’re right up there with donut ice cream sandwiches in the decadent desserts department. But a lot less messy.

Just cut a donut in half (donut croissant, glazed, maple, sprinkles, etc) like a hamburger bun. Add peanut butter to the bottom ‘bun’ and your favorite jelly to the top ‘bun’. Smoosh them together and dig in. It’s kind of like a filled jelly donut, only with the added bonus of peanut butter.

I may be completely insane for making these. The verdict is still out. But it’s becoming more and more clear that I don’t shy away from decadent dessert ideas. So, at least it’s becoming part of the norm around here.

Curious to know what you think of these. What kind of donut do you think would work best for this type of sandwich?

I really want one of these! I am having a hard time deciding between a cake donut and a raised donut, though. Definitely would be non-chocolate.

Not a fan of peanut butter but somehow those look SO good.

This just looks like trouble. In that “Ooh, I wanna start some trouble” sort of way! I think I’d go with glazed or vanilla frosting & rainbow sprinkle donut.

Danger I tell you! I would eat way too many of these. Gorgeous photography as well. xo

As always, the styling and photography is so beautiful! These look a fun and delicious dessert. I think I’d be most tempted to pair them with the classic sprinkle donut (vanilla dip) to showcase that tasty PB&J combo.

Yum! Maple peanut butter sounds delicious, Flick.

Is this not the easiest but most rewarding dessert ever? I love this idea, I have a great new maple peanut butter for this too. YUM!
