Rolling the Dice with DIY Mini Pumpkin Soy Candles

DIY Pumpkin Scented Candles in Hollowed Out Pumpkins

After my last candle project, I’ve had a whole other bag of soy flakes that have been begging to be used. So, I thought I would give candle making another go. And this time, I went a little fall-centric….and made DIY pumpkin candles in actual pumpkins (and gourds). This was a fun one! And the candles ended up smelling delicious too.

The full tutorial can be found over on Momtastic, but here are a few photos (and outtakes) to get you started.

These candles make a fun hostess gift, if you’re attending a fall get-together, or use ’em for holiday decorating (Halloween and Thanksgiving). They’re really easy to make. I promise! Grab the tutorial here.

The pumpkin candles are too cute! My grandpa used to make candles all the time. This post makes me want to learn how 🙂

I love making my own soy candles! Love the idea of putting them in pumpkins though. Perfect for the season (or for those pumpkins that are rotted inside – good way to make em last!). 🙂

Thanks Ursula. That’s a good question actually…Like all pumpkins, they will eventually rot. But there are some super easy ways to preserve the pumpkins, so they’ll last longer. They make pumpkin preservation sprays that you can use or you can coat the interior and exterior of the pumpkins (after they’ve been gutted) with petroleum jelly, which helps keep the pumpkins from prematurely drying out. Hope that helps!

Brittni

this is such a cool idea and so different. Dumb question but does the pumpkin rot?
