I spent some time yesterday setting up my editorial schedule for the rest of the month, and it turns out I really need to get on the Halloween band wagon (in terms of posting Halloween content) because I have so much I want to share and only about three and half weeks to share it. Sooooo….today I have a quick and easy Halloween project for you that I hope you’ll like. It’s a little bit silly and a little bit spooky: bloodshot eyeball drink stirrers & cupcake toppers made from ping pong balls.
Here’s how I made them…
Materials: ping bong balls, permanent markers, bamboo skewers, paper straws, paper awl or other sharp object for poking a hole through the ping pong ball
How-To: Start by drawing an eyeball in permanent marker on a ping pong ball. I did a step by step on how to draw the eyeballs from start to finish right here. Then poke a hole in the bottom with a bamboo skewer or other sharp object (like a paper awl). Push the skewer in as far as it will go to keep it secure (no glue required) and plop it down into a cupcake. OR if you want to make a drink stirrer instead, just poke a black and white paper straw through the bottom of the eye, instead of a bamboo skewer. And add to a drink. Great for parties!
I used some of the these ping pong eyeballs for a halloween wreath I made for DIY Network. So, if you wanted to make something bigger with these little guys, you totally could. Just FYI.
P.S. I’m thinking about doing a Halloween week this month, where all the posts for the entire week are Halloween themed. What do you think? Do you like that idea or would rather see Halloween stuff sprinkled in with regular content throughout the month?

papernstitchI love this DIY and this will make a great addition for a Halloween party and will delight kids of every age!! I like the idea of sprinkling the Halloween posts amongst other post, that way we can enjoy the spirit of Halloween a little longer.
BrittanyThanks for your input Tanya…I should have made that a third option because I may actually have enough Halloween DIYs to do it (a week dedicated to it and additional posts sprinkled in throughout the month).
papernstitchAwesome DIY – and can we have both a dedicated week AND posts sprinkled throughout the month 🙂 Yes,I like having my cake and eating it too!
