With only three ingredients, these chocolate candy cups are easy to make and taste amazing. Marshmallow lovers, you are going to freak out over these little homemade candies.

It’s like having a cup of hot cocoa on a cold winter (or fall) day, without the need for a cup.

Ingredients (makes one dozen candy cups)

  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 envelope of marshmallow lovers hot cocoa mix (which is roughly 3 tbsp)*
  • 6 large marshmallows cut in half (for a total of 12 pieces)

* We used the packages that include the tiny marshmallows for decoration.

How to Make Hot Chocolate Candy Cups

1. Place mini candy cup paper liners in a 12 count mini-muffin tin.

2. Sift the hot cocoa mix to separate the tiny marshmallows from the cocoa and set aside.

3. Melt the chocolate, using a double broiler or microwave, stirring along the way. And stir in the cocoa from the packet (don’t add the tiny marshmallows that were sifted out in step 1 though).

4. Spread (roughly) 1 teaspoon of chocolate into the bottom of each lined muffin cup. Tap the pan gently on the surface so that it is evenly spread. Place in freezer for a few minutes to allow chocolate to harden.

5. Once bottoms are set, place half of a large marshmallow in the cup and press down. Cover the marshmallow with more melted chocolate until you have a smooth and even top. Again, tap the pan gently on the surface so that it is evenly spread over the marshmallow.

6. Sprinkle the tiny marshmallows from the hot cocoa packet on top, while the chocolate is still melty so that it will stick. Set in the freezer for 5 minutes to harden the chocolate. And they’re ready to serve.
