3 Delicious Ways to Celebrate National Toasted Marshmallow Day

3 Delicious Ways to Celebrate National Toasted Marshmallow Day

This coming Saturday (August 30th) is national toasted marshmallow day. And to celebrate, I thought I would put together a few DIY ways to use toasted marshmallows that are 1) super easy and 2) super delicious.

I made all of these over the weekend and you better believe that I taste tested each one to make sure they were good enough to post. It was in the name of research, I swear.

Here are 3 ways to enjoy toasted marshmallows…

Toasted Marshmallow Waffle Sandwiches

Toasted Marshmallow Waffle Sandwiches

1. Mini Waffle Sandwiches

Oh, man. These are decadent. All you need are a few mini belgium waffles or liege waffles, which are a little bit sweeter, and some jumbo toasted marshmallows. Stack them together and you have a waffle sandwich. The marshmallow kind of acts like a replacement for traditional whip cream. You can even add syrup and fresh fruit on top if you’re feeling crazy. It’s not exactly a sandwich at that point, but it sure sounds good.

2. Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream Topping

Add some warm, toasty mini marshmallows to ice cream (or even a milkshake). I paired mine with blueberry ice cream, but chocolate or coffee ice cream would be delicious too.

Macaron + Marshmallow Sandwiches

3. Macaron and Marshmallow Sandwiches

Okay, I don’t know if I even need to say any thing more about these other than yum! This was my favorite of the three. And I didn’t even have to make my own macarons! I used store-boughts ones (which I bought from Whole Foods).

All you need to do is toast up some marshmallows (I cut a jumbo marshmallow into fourths and used one piece per macaron), gently pull the macarons apart, and add the toasted marshmallow. My absolute favorite flavor to try this with is pistachio. It’s SO good, but caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and pretty much any other flavor you can think of will work too. You kind of can’t go wrong. FYI – I left the filling in these little sandwiches, but if you don’t want to, you can easily scrap if off with a knife.

They are definitely decadent, Amber. Is there any other way to celebrate national toasted marshmallow day, though? :)

I didn’t know about it either, Abi. Someone on Instagram told me last week, and I was like, Oh I have to do something for this.

Happy Long Weekend - The Crafted Life | August 29th, 2014 at 3:09 am

[…] It seems like I’m one of the few who are just not looking forward to Fall and cooler days, which makes living in New Jersey even more difficult. Maybe because I’ve been recovering from knee surgery and haven’t been able to enjoy the season, but I feel this summer flew by. As we head into Labor Day, the weekend before schools start again, and summer schedules end, I’m hanging onto to summer, and everything I love about warm sunny days, for as long as I can. Looking through my pinterest I realized that I have way too many spring and summertime photos, but I’ve rallied up a few that are keeping me inspired and happy enjoying my favorite season has still to offer. If you’re going away for one last getaway or keeping it simple, hope you have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.  Summer living is effortless. It’s sandy bods, from the laying in the sand, baring it all, and watching the sunset onto the waves. Summer is the most delicious season. It’s the perfect reason for outdoor entertaining, light and floral cocktails, fresh summer vegetable dishes, seafood bakes and barbecues, colorful ice cream cones, and endless ways to eat toasted marshmallows.
