Rollin’ with another nail DIY because V-Day is right around the corner and I needed an excuse to share these insanely cool 3-D cat cards. Not a cat lady, I swear. Haha.
But seriously, this color block nail tutorial is a fun one, if you’re looking for a bold design for your digits. AND it marks the (unofficial) kick off of a new Paper & Stitch hashtag… #colorblockvibes. Which I’ll be explaining in detail very soon, but for now, feel free to add the new hashtag to all of your colorful color blocked photos.
For this nail art DIY, you’ll need..
- 3 nail colors
- clear top coat
- clear base coat
- washi tape
- scissors
Instructions:
- Start by prepping your nails with a clear base coat. Then, paint each nail with one of your chosen colors. This color will mostly be in the center of your nails, so keep that in mind. Once that coat has dried completely you’re ready to move onto the next step.
- Start with a piece of washi tape slightly longer than the length of your nail and cut into (imperfect) triangles. Place one triangle onto each nail, changing the direction of each sticker. The object is for each nail to be slightly different.
- Once you’ve got your washi tape in place, paint on each side with your other chosen colors. This may take two coats, just make sure the coats are completely dry before moving on.
- Once your nail polish has dried, remove your tape and paint each nail with a clear top coat.
Pretty easy, right? I love the possibilities of this color blocked design…it looks so different with a cooler color scheme (blues and greens for example). And I keep picturing a grey scale color blocked design too. Lots of options with this one.
