With the holidays rolling in pretty quickly now, I’ve been thinking about fun hair and nail projects for parties, etc. And I remembered that there are actually a handful of beauty DIYs that I still haven’t shared. Like today’s nail art tutorial for color blocked polka dots.
You’ll have to get close to these digits to see the detail, but those polka dots are indeed color blocked. And they almost look like tiny ornaments on your finger tips, which I think would be perfect for this time of year (but also, anytime really).
So, if you’re looking for some nail art inspiration that you can actually do yourself, this DIY is the one for you. Click through for the step by step tutorial.
Instructions
Choose three nail polish colors to use for this tutorial. Then, start by painting your nails one solid color. We went with a nude(ish) base color to let the polka dots pops. Wait for the base coat to dry fully before moving onto the next step.
Then, using a dotting tool, make dots on each nail (in one of the other two contrasting colors) in various sizes.
Once the polish is completely dry (give it plenty of time before moving on), tape off several polka dots from each nail, at the halfway mark. You want to cut the dots in half with the tape, so you can only see half of the circle.
Then, using the dotting tool again, go over the dots with the third nail polish color, remove tape, and allow the polish to dry before adding a top coat. That’s it!
