I am pleased to announce that I have another simple DIY project for everyone! And it is even easier than the last one.
I should mention that I am on an endless quest to keep myself organized at home, especially in my studio/office, which is quite small since I share the space with my love.
Anyway, our office is the only room in the house that we have neglected to paint and I wanted to come up with a way to make it cheerfully colorful AND organized.
This is what I came up with:
Album Cover Wall Organizers that will take you less than 5 minutes from start to finish! That’s right: 5 MINUTES!
Album Cover Wall Organizers in Minutes
Materials
- Colorful album cover sleeves – I chose kid’s albums because they had neat illustrations on the front.
- Scissors
- Foam mounting squares
How to Make Album Cover Wall Organizers
Step One: Get album cover ready.
Turn album cover sleeve on side so the opening is facing up towards the sky.
Step Two: Cut a pocket.
Using your scissors, cut a half oval shape on the front flap starting at the top (where the opening is). Do not cut the backside (back flap). I just free-formed this part, but you can certainly trace it out if its easier.
Note: If you are having trouble thinking about cutting up your album covers, you can skip this step all together and can still use the cover as a “pocket”.
It will just make getting to your papers a little more difficult, but can still work.
Step Three: Add mounting squares.
Flip the album over to the backside. At each corner stick a foam mounting square and then peel off the paper backing.
Step Four: Secure to wall.
Secure to wall. Stick all your paper goodies in there and enjoy!
I put notebook paper and manilla folders in the bottom one and my fun decorative papers in the top one.
What do you think?

Andrea FlowersThat’s a great idea Laura. Why didn’t I think of that?
papernstitchI love it-
I’d be tempted to put a coordinating color paper on the back inside – so when the pocket is empty, you don’t have the white space – too much?

Thanks! « Paper and StitchYour idea has made its way to Apartment Therapy and I love it. I’ve hung four album covers on my wall over the last year and was getting tired of them- I had hoped I would find some glass that I could mount them under. No luck- I would have had to go custom which isn’t worth it to me since they costs pennies (I’m not a collector- I bought them as decor).
You idea is so practical and I live in a tiny house with work/dining/livingroom all in one. I really wanted my office space to hide the tedius tasks- of paying bills and holding extra paper, and you’ve given me the solution.
Thank you.
O LuI wish I was more organised but there is NO WAY I would do this with my record sleeves 😉 Nice idea mind if your not too fond of your vinyl collection!

ddangerHow fun and easy! Will be trying this one! Thanks for the tutorial!
whitneyThis is really neat and will work where I can’t put shelves. My only problem is I’ll have to scour garage sales or something. Most the albums I have are so old they’re collectors items and I wouldn’t want to ruin the cover. LOL
ladybeamsThose are great. I might attempt one for my son. I love your blog, I’ve been a lurker here now and then.
maleeshathese are fabulous!! now i know what to do with all of my awesome record players and extra papers!!

claudine hellmuthTrue genius! I love the colorful graphics of 60’s album cover and never how to display them. Now I can display AND they are functional! Yippee!
rosieI just bought that Mary Poppins album last week. It’s the only one I have, how funny.
JenniferThis is so GENIUS! I knew I was saving those albums for a reason. Thanks SO much for posting this! I’ll be linking to this today!
RachelGreat idea. I’m a freak about organization, and this just might be a colorful way for me to keep extra things organized.
