This post is in partnership with Who Gives a Crap. Funny name, but seriously cool company that donates 50% of their profits to building toilets and improving sanitation in developing countries.
I just had family in town last week for a visit and more family will be coming into town this week. Which means, getting my guest bedroom and bathroom in order has been a top priority the last two weeks.
And since I’ve just about wrapped up the bathroom, I thought I’d share a little sneak peek, along with my top three essentials that every guest bathroom should have before your first guest arrives. Can you guess what they are? You’ll have to click through to find out!
Guest Bathroom Essentials #1: Toilet paper
Guest Bathroom Essentials #2: Toiletries
Another essential to have around for guests is toiletries. Almost everyone forgets to pack their toothpaste or shampoo on a trip. It happens to me all the time! So, I like to have all that stuff ready for guests just in case they need it.
Here’s the running list of toiletries basics I keep in the bathroom: shampoo and conditioner, body wash, a razor, toothpaste, an extra toothbrush, a hair brush, and hair dryer. Bonus points for organic or eco-friendly versions of these items, especially since some guests may have skin sensitivities, etc. Not required of course, but always nice to have if you can!
Guest Bathroom Essentials #3: Textiles
Last but not least, textiles made the list at number three on the guest bathroom essentials list – which includes, shower towels, hand towels, and a bath mat or absorbent rug. Again, organic or eco-friendly towels are awesome if you can get them. But aside from the environmentally friendly aspect of things, finding textiles that are soft, cozy, and comfortable for guests is a must. And if you can find those things in something that ALSO looks cute, then you’ve really found a winner.
More Guest Bathroom Ideas
Outside of my three essentials, there are (of course) loads more items you can add to your guest room to make it feel comfortable and cool for guests. Things like adding artwork, plants, a shower stool for shaving your legs, and other bathroom accessories can really help to tie everything together.

AshwiniYay. So happy to hear that, Felicia. It’s definitely one of those things that makes a difference for guests to feel comfortable away from home…and it’s such a small and easy thing to do. 🙂
BrittniI love the fun designs on the toilet paper! It’s perfect for guests and I love your tips on having all of the toiletries in a basket ready for them, I’m going to start doing this for guests.
FeliciaAwesome Michelle. Glad to hear that. It’s definitely been a nice touch for guests and I genuinely love their mission. So, if I’m already buying toilet paper, why not choose one that gives back, right?!
