I don’t know how it’s creeping up so fast, but Mother’s Day is in less than two weeks. 11 days from today to be exact. So, I’ll be rolling out a couple more DIY project ideas for Mom over the next week and a half, starting with this one for an embellished keepsake container, which moms ALWAYS have. Honestly, I made a couple of these for myself too though because I like ’em so much.
I picked up a few of these shallow containers at a local craft store for $2.50 each and with a $2 bottle of enamel model car paint I made these simple containers a little more special. For under $5 each!
I’m picturing them being used to store jewelry, makeup, and other odds and ends….And maybe even a secret candy stash? That’s how I would roll with them, anyway.
Which is why I partnered with DOVE® Dark Chocolate for this DIY. Have you tried their chocolate? It is seriously delicious (and I’m not even a huge dark chocolate person). Jeff and I ate a whole bag in a couple of days. Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel and Silky Smooth Mint & Dark Chocolate Swirl are my two favorites.
Here’s how to make your own keepsake containers for Mother’s Day…
Materials: Ceramic Containers, Enamel Model Car Paint, Paint Brush, Painter’s Tape
How-To: You can either freehand a design or pattern directly onto the ceramic containers OR tape off a shape and paint inside the lines. Either way, this project couldn’t be any easier. And it’s so affordable too.
Fill the container with candies and/or jewelry and give this to mom with a card and a bouquet of flowers (or balloons).
After Mother’s Day is over, I could totally see myself reusing this idea for last minute birthday, graduation, and housewarming gifts.

Hi Genny. The curved bar necklace is by Seoul Little https://www.etsy.com/shop/SeoulLittle and the rainbow circle necklace is from Yellow Owl Workshop http://www.yellowowlworkshop.com/collections/pendants/products/color-wheel-pendant. Hope that helps.
BrittniThe container is such a creative idea. And this might sound random but I really love the necklace. Where did you get it?
GennyMother’s day is in March over here. I wish I’d had this tutorial then! Oh well, like you say, it’s a great last minute present for anyone. x
