I have to admit, I’m pretty excited that today is Friday…BUT I’m even more excited about the fact that Memorial Day is Monday because… three day weekend! I know exactly how I’m going to be celebrating too. With cake and cocktails. Is there any other way?
So, to get into the spirit of the holiday, I partnered with SKYY Barcraft, a new line of elevated cocktail-inspired vodkas from SKYY Vodka, to share the easiest summer cocktail recipe around. Along with a fun weekend DIY to try that will help you wash down those cocktails in style.
You in? Let’s get to it…
To make these simple cocktails, you’re going to need some glassware. And what’s glassware without a hand painted DIY design, right? Right!
There are tons of pattern options out there, obviously, but I went with the basics…stripes, grids, and brushstrokes. Okay, so it;s possible that polka dots would have been more simplistic option that brushstroke / hatch marks. BUT polka dots actually would have taken longer, in this case, and I wanted this DIY to be fun and fast.
DIY Painted Glassware
To make your own patterned glassware, you’ll need a paint brush and glass paint (I like Pebeo). Then, it’s as simple as deciding on a design / pattern and painting away. I’d recommend practicing on an old glass first, to get used to painting on a curved surface. Apply at least two coats of paint, depending on how opaque you want the design to be, then let it dry according to the instructions on the label (typically about 8 hours) before using.
And now for the cocktail hack…
Two Ingredient Cocktail Recipe
To make a simple cocktail without all the fuss of a ton of ingredients, measuring / shaking, etc try this… Add one part SKYY Barcraft (available in three flavors: Margarita Lime, Watermelon Fresca, and White Sangria) to two parts club soda or your favorite flavored sparkling water, over ice. Done! Add a fruit garnish if you’re really feeling fancy.
The limited ingredients make it easy to create large batches for parties. The same two to one ratio applies. Easy peasy.
Tip: Add fruit infused ice cubes to a pitcher of Barcraft White Sangria and sparkling peach or grapefruit water. So good.
