Don’t Be a Square: How to Make (Square Shaped) V-Day Lollipops

How to make easy square shaped lollipops for Valentine's Day

I feel the need to preface this post by saying that I made these lollipops so long ago I literally forgot about them (photographed them the same day as these strawberry cake ball truffles). Until yesterday. And then I was like, ‘Oh yeah – I should probably share those.‘ And they just so happen to fit in perfectly with V-Day content. So….. here they are!

Make these super easy lollipops with just one ingredient. Yep, one! Bonus…They’re square, which makes them a teeny tiny bit more special than regular lollipops.

Easy (Square Shaped) V-Day Lollipops DIY

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of Jolly Ranchers (any flavors you like that are red or pink)

Materials:

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Then unwrap Jolly Ranchers and place them all in a plastic bag. Close up the bag, while pushing out any extra air from the bag.

Then hit the candy with a mallet or hammer until it breaks up into small(ish) pieces – similar in size to what you see in the photos.

Open the bag back up and pour the Jolly Rancher pieces into the ice cube mold. Fill them all the way to the top because they will shrink down to half the size after melting in the oven.

Next, place the filled silicone mold onto a cookie sheet and pop it in the oven for 8-12 minutes. Once the candy have melted into a liquid they are ready to be taken out of the oven. Which could happen before or after the timeframe I gave, so be sure to continually check on it…the timing depends on how much candy is added to the molds, what rack in the oven you place the mold on, etc.

Before the candy cools, add lollipop sticks to the center of each square mold. Then let the candy harden again before removing from the molds. Once hardened, they are ready to eat.

This would be a fun weekend project. Don’t you think? Who’s up for some lollipop making?

P.S. I’ll be popping back in tomorrow with this weekend’s list of DIYs to try.

Square lollipops are awesome! So hard to fit in your mouth, makes it a real challenge lol.

I LOVE these! Why are they so much cooler just because they are square?!

Thanks Emily. Yes, they’re perfect for that kind of thing.

This is a really clever idea! Especially if you have a themed party and need a specific color of treat. How fun!
