Guest post by Katrien of Pilli Pilli Handmade.
I first started making these little cupcaketoppers on a lazy sunday afternoon as a surprise for my boyfriend and soon ended up with a lot more of them than I actually needed… They’re just so sweet & easy to make! But don’t worry if -like me- you get a little carried away, for these sugar-sweet LOVE-lies, they will be more than obliging to figure as charming valentine decorations in your flowerpots as well!
And whatever happens… just remember that in some cases, the most important messages are written on the tiniest pieces of paper!
Materials: 1. red construction paper or cardstock 2. toothpicks 3. double-sided tape 4. heart paper punch
Step by Step Instructions: 1. Using your heart paper punch, punch out 10-20 hearts (depending on how many you want to make). 2. Place a toothpick on the back of your heart and then, using a small pice of double-sided tape, tape the toothpick to the paper heart. 3. Add a second paper heart on top of the toothpick and tape to cover everything up. And you’re ready to stick these little cupcake toppers into sweet treats for Valentine’s Day.

papernstitchI made an Oreo-vanilla cake for a friend’s 21st and realized at the last minute that a gray cake looks very sad. I remembered seeing this on Brit+Co and got some of my siblings to help me make a bunch with star punches. Thanks for sharing your idea—so simple, yet brilliant!
