(Holiday) Flower Power: A New Winter Style Guide + ATL Wreath Workshop

A Holiday Style Guide + Wreath Workshop

Last weekend, we threw a little wreath workshop for a small group, along with Malorie of Petal + Fold, and it was so much fun! I loved having just a handful of people for this one, so we could keep things casual, easy, and most importantly spread out for the big ol’ wreaths that everyone made.

To go along with the casual vibe, I kept decorations minimal, BUT still wanted to have a little something special. So, I created a new winter style guide and made that, along with the flower table, the focal point of the workshop.

These garden roses!

There were a handful of DIY ideas in there too…couldn’t let an event come together without a few handmade touches, right?! But the real stars of the show were all of the florals! All of the flowers were from Flower Muse (one of my fave resources for flowers and greenery) and Malorie made the gorgeous centerpieces. So, so pretty!

Click through for all of the photos and DIY ideas. And for even more holiday inspiration, check out the asymmetrical wreath tutorial I shared earlier in the week.

Style guide // It had been a little while since my last style guide, and even though I had already made a mini holiday one for December, it didn’t feel like I had really worked on it long enough, like the other months.

So, I started from scratch and created  a new style guide for the month of December, adding in additional items – like the ombre brass bells, some wreaths, etc – to make it more festive.

Flowers // We had lots of greenery, garden roses, anemones, and ranunculus available for attendees to use for their wreaths. Everything was in buckets and vases to keep stems as fresh as possible. And the really ugly buckets were wrapped in old calendar pages to make them more interesting. I love how they turned out, actually.

And here’s the greenery and flower breakdown…

Greenery // base for wreaths: variegated pittosporumolive branch, green bush ivypepperberry, ruscus, and silver dollar eucalyptus

Flowers // white anemoneswhite ranunculus and red ranunculus, cream garden roses – patiencedusty pink garden roses – romantic antike, ivory peach garden roses – caramel antike, deep red garden roses – tessrosey peach two tone garden roses – edith

DIY ideas // I used hand painted placemats at each seat (leftover from the spring party) and dyed canvas bags for attendees to take home, along with airbrushed copper candles and some candies.

DIY Wreaths // It was so fun to see how different everyone’s wreaths turned out at the end of the workshop. They all looked awesome. Asymmetrical wreath tutorial here if you want to make your own.

All of these flowers!
