Earlier this week, our (one and only) car broke down. Again. It just needed a new battery, so it wasn’t a huge deal. Without being able to use the car though, I’ve been walking a lot more – to work and back, getting groceries, etc. And now that the weather is (finally) starting to cool down again, I really don’t mind it at all. It’s kind of a nice (slow) way to start the day and then wind back down again. It takes about 30 minutes each way, so it gives me time to think, listen to podcasts, blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, on my walk back home yesterday, I started thinking about how DIY projects are often similar to what I’ve been experiencing this week…something to wind down with at the end of the day, (at least semi) mindlessly. Of course that’s not the case every time… there are plenty of projects that take a whole lot of brain power (especially if you’re using any power tools). But today, I wanted to focus the week’s DIYs to try on those easier, almost meditative project ideas. Just in case you’re hoping for a little time to zone out this weekend. With that in mind…
Here are 6 DIYs to try this weekend.
1. painted DIY party favor bags for candy
2. feta, rosemary, and pear crostinis from The Merrythought
3. gemstone soap DIY from A Beautiful Mess
4. watercolor backdrop DIY from Oh Happy Day
5. how to alter vintage caftans from Oh Joy
6. how to make a large-scale rug (time-cosuming but worth it + super easy)
Side note…Shout out to my good friend Kelly of Studio DIY, who recently launched a (colorful) Halloween costume shop, filled with mix and match pieces to make crazy cool costumes. You can head over right here to check it out. Congrats Kelly!
Hope you have a great weekend.
