This year, I’ve been working on taking better care of myself. Which maybe sounds like a generic thing to say, but I genuinely mean it. Toward the end of last year, I kind of felt like I stepped into a crazy whirlwind, with getting the studio space, hiring new people, my dog getting sick, and the holidays. There was definitely a lot more cake and pizza consumed than there was anything that resembled a healthy meal. And exercise pretty much flew out the window too, amongst other things.
BUT this year , I’ve been quietly working on getting back on track, with how things were before. And I have been doing small things to help push me toward that goal of being a healthier me in 2016 (body / mind / spirit). Which is why I’ve partnered with OLLY to share some of the things I’ve been doing to get me on my way…
1. First things first, one of the best changes I’ve made so far is going to bed an hour earlier. I’ve always been someone who stays up extremely late (like 2am late) and then I end up paying for it in the morning when my alarm goes off. But just getting that extra hour each night has helped…And I hope I can keep adding more hours on as time goes on.
2. Also, most nights, before I go to bed now I take a bath. It doesn’t replace my showers obviously, but it’s been a really nice nightly ritual of sorts to wind down that way. It makes me kind of sleepy too, which might be what’s helping me to get that extra hour of sleep.
3. One of the easiest changes I’ve made so far has been starting my day with vitamins. More specifically, I started taking OLLY Super Foods and I really, really like them. Two vitamins a day contain all your daily essential vitamins and minerals, plus antioxidants not found in standard multivitamins. AND they’re gluten free and 100% vegetarian. I take them as I’m getting ready for work each morning and it makes me feel like I’m starting the day off on the right foot.
4. I’ve also managed to put down the ice cream cone occasionally and start eating better foods. BUT on days we are shooting new dessert recipes, I definitely still do some taste testing. If I deprive myself, I feel like I’ll just end up going off the deep end. Ever feel that way? So, it’s been better for me to have the ‘fun’ foods in moderation, rather than give them up completely.
ANYWAY, long story short, I’m on my way. And I’m curious to know if you’ve dealt with any of these kinds of things in the past. Is this hitting home with you too?

2016, I am working harder than before sleeping around 2 am is so relatable. Thanks for writing, I need to take care of myself more often
Marwa | Enthralling GumptionUgh I feel like I’m CONSTANTLY battling food. I’m trying My Fitness Pal for tracking carbs/protein/fat. It’s really an eyeopener for foods I used to thing were NBD “if you only have one” or whatever. Yeesh. It sure adds up!
Kristina BThank you for sharing your story Margot. Means a lot! Wishing you the very best on your journey.
BrittniI can so relate. I have been struggling with binge eating disorder and I find that if I restrict EVERYTHING the chance of me going off the deep end is much bigger than if I still eat everything but just, in moderation, in company, … 🙂 I too am on a journey to eat healthier, good luck to you! I’ve never heard of these vitamins but they sound amazing, much better than the ones I get in my local pharmacy, might need to check those out!
love

MargotOh yes! I forgot about the drinking more water thing, Michelle. Good call. I’ve been doing that too. Really helps!
BrittniI think especially the points of going to bed earlier and eating enough vitamins will have a huge impact on your life! Oh, and I always experience that drinking enough water will keep you fit!
