A couple of months ago, I started working with DIY Network on a handful of projects and I wanted to share one of the first of those projects with you today: how to make a no-sew fabric chalkboard placemat.
It’s hard to tell without seeing the full tutorial (which you can check out here), but these placemats are really sturdy (almost more like a tray than a placemat), which makes them perfect for writing messages and little doodles after breakfast, before lunch, etc.
I’ve been using my set of these to jot down notes/ write to dos and have actually been thinking about hanging them on the wall, since I don’t eat at the table much. So, they would definitely work as wall art as well if you’re not a ‘meal at the table’ kind of girl.
Want to know how to make your own? Visit this post on DIY Network for more photos and the full tutorial. And be sure to check back over the coming weeks. I’ll be sharing some Halloween and Christmas/ Holiday projects soon.

jessieThis is an awesome idea! Would be nice for a kids table too. I did something similar using kraft paper as a table runner at a dinner party. Everyone loved that they could draw at the dinner table.
MeganThanks Klaudia

klaudia majewskaYes! I’ve always loved those places too…few and far between..but I always take advantage. This placemat definitely has that vibe. Thanks Kelly. 🙂
papernstitchGenius! I always love the restaurants that let you draw on the paper tablecloths (I don’t care if it’s for kids!) so this is totally up my alley! Breakfast and doodling. Perfection.
