What I’ve Been Up to Lately + Make This

DIY cupcake toppers using paper straws

There’s been a lot of celebrating around here lately, with Jeff’s birthday last week, and a b-day celebration with family over the weekend. AND we finally found a house to move into when our lease is up on current place, which is a huge relief because that has been super stressful. Should be moving in less than a month, and there will be plenty of projects to complete over at the new place (which I will be sharing here, of course).

Aside from that, I’ve had a few really great things going on behind-the-scenes work wise as well….Including a very special (but still pretty secret) event that myself and two other very awesome ladies are putting together for next year, a trip to New York at the end of October, and several (room) makeover projects that I’m working on for an upcoming book that I’m contributing to. Sneak peek into room makeover #1 here and here.

I’m also getting ready to head down to Orlando at the end of this week to speak at a conference, so it’s going to be a hectic few days around here. But (of course) it is totally worth it…and it’s a good excuse to have a few celebratory/ stress-eating cupcakes laying around. AND if I’m going to have cupcakes, they might as well have cool cupcake toppers, right?

So, I made these alphabet cupcake toppers with paper straws, and shared the full tutorial on One Charming Party. They are super quick and easy to make. Make them last minute before a b-day celebration. And now that it’s getting closer to October, I think they would be really cool for a Halloween party. Just switch out the cupcake liners for orange ones and you are good to go. Check out the full tutorial over on One Charming Party.

ladies home journal (october issue)

P.S. I wanted to give a big thanks to Ladies’ Home Journal for including my painted pumpkin project in their latest issue (October 2013). If you’re a longtime reader, you may remember the project from this post. Happy to be alongside projects from Cakies and The Swell Life for the Handmade Halloween feature.

ANYWAY, now that I’ve shared (most likely) way to much about what’s been going on with me lately, I’d love to know what you’ve been up to. Feel free to leave a note in the comments with your weekly to-dos or exciting news.

I KNOW! That would have been amazing. We’ll just have to settle for a Skype session for now.

Why could we not have been in NYC at the same time? That would have totally made my year!

On a more positive note, everything you touch is gold and I’m so excited you found a place! : )
