That Trick or Treat Life: A No-Carve Pumpkin Project Using Custom Color Paint Markers #nocarvepumpkins #pumpkindiy

It’s officially October, which means a no-carve pumpkin DIY is 100% fair game at this point. I’ve been waiting to share this one until we got out of September, so here we are! This no-carve project is scary easy. See what I did there?!

Plus, it involves creating your own custom paint markers, so you create the exact color palette you envision – emerald green, rust orange, pink mauve, etc, etc. Any color in the rainbow will work for this one! I teamed up with Testors to make it all happen and am sharing the tutorial after the jump. Click through to make your own no-carve pumpkin DIY using custom color paint pens.

For this color-obsessed lady, the idea of making your own custom color paint pens is VERY appealing. It often takes me forever at the art supply store to find a paint pen that is the exact color I was imagining (if I find it at all) and I’m not a huge fan of spending 20 minutes in the marker aisle pouring over every color with my fingers crossed.

So, this kit is a lifesaver for me, for lots of projects outside of no-carve pumpkin projects. I could see myself using this guy again and again on projects like the hand lettered clutch project, the DIY dip dyed stationery sets, the  message envelope liners, and more. For now though, it makes the perfect marker for writing Halloween messages on pumpkins. So let’s get to it…

Easy no-carve pumpkin project using custom paint pens to create messages and designs.

Materials

Instructions

1. Start by mixing 2 or more colors of acrylic airbrushing paint together until you reach the desired color. If you’re not sure what colors to mix to get the color you want, this online color mixing site could help. OR you can get a color wheel mixing guide like this for $6.

2. Once you have the desired paint color ready, insert the marker nib into the marker as shown. Instructions also on packaging.

3. Then, use a syringe to pick up the paint you mixed up in step 1. And insert it into the back of the marker as shown. Screw on the brush cap end and shake well for 30 seconds to make sure the paint is mixed well.

4. Then depress the tip of the marker on a hard surface until there is paint coming through the tip. And use the marker to write clever and cheeky messages on pumpkins for Halloween.

Are you a no-carve pumpkin DIY kind of girl? Or do you like to carve it up during pumpkin season? I’m a little of both BUT I always lean toward the easier less messy side when it comes down to it.
